Police have identified the 10 victims who died after a gunman went on a shooting in a crowded supermarket in Boulder, Colorado. Among the victims was a 51-year-old police officer who responded at the scene of the attack.
The 21-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Monday and has been charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder. Police said the suspect had been shot and hospitalized in stable condition.
President Joe Biden extensive his condolences to the families of the victims. “Ten lives have been lost and more families have been destroyed by gun violence in the state of Colorado,” he said Tuesday.
Here’s what we know about the victims of the mass shooting:
Talley, an 11-year veteran of the Boulder Police Department, rushed to the scene of the supermarket shooting, where he was fatally shot.
Talley was a father of seven and loved his community, Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold said at a news conference. Herold called his efforts in the shooting “heroic” and said, “he is everything the police deserve and need.”
His sister, Kirstin, remembered her brother Twitter: “My heart is broken. I can’t explain how beautiful he was and what a devastating loss this is for so many. Fly high, my dear brother. You always wanted to be a pilot (damn color blindness). Fly.”

The 25-year-old’s death was confirmed by both the police and her Aunt Lori, who recalled her niece on Facebook.
“Thank you everyone for all your prayers, but the Lord has a beautiful young angel yesterday …” she wrote in part. “We’ll be posting details about her arrangements in the coming days.”
Her uncle, Robert Olds, said, “No one can replace Rikki and the happiness” she brought into her family’s life.
“Our family is suffering a great loss, and we will endure this together one day at a time,” he said in a statement. On behalf of our family, thank you for honoring Rikki’s legacy and the light she was in this world. Our hearts go out to the families of the other victims who are going through the same grief as we are. ”
On Tuesday, Olds’ family commemorated her as a loving, hardworking person who was “truly unique” and said “she would hug you and give you the confidence to be the person you want to be.”
The statement said Olds was committed to her career at King Soopers and that she ‘strived to be the best manager she could be for her working family.’
Mahoney’s daughter, Erika, mourned her father on Twitter, saying he “represented all things love.”
“I’m so grateful he was able to walk down the aisle with me last summer,” she wrote on Tuesday. ‘I’m pregnant now. I know he wants me to be strong for his granddaughter. I love your dad forever. You’re always with me. ‘
Murray, a retired mother of two and an Instacart employee, was working when she was murdered at the grocery store. The company’s founder and CEO, Apoorva Mehta, offered condolences to Murray’s family.
“Violence of any kind has no place in our society, and our teams are working with law enforcement officials and the King Soopers team to assist in every way possible,” Mehta said. “We reached out to the shopper’s family to provide our support and resources during this unimaginably difficult time.”
Stong paid for his lunch when the shooting broke out, his friend, Dean Schiller, told CBS News. Schiller was streaming live from the supermarket, unaware that his friend would be among the victims.
“He was a really smart kid,” said Schiller. “He was trying to become a pilot who wanted to become a commercial pilot – that was his dream.”

Tralona Bartkowiak’s cousin David had spent hours watching the news Monday night after learning that her car was parked at the King Soopers in Boulder, Colorado. Later he learned about her death from Bartkowiak’s mother.
As a child, David lived with Bartkowiak in Southern California, CBS Los Angeles reports. He said that Bartkowiak, who was 19 years his senior, helped raise him.
“It’s just really sad she’s gone,” said David. ‘It is unbelievable. She had the biggest heart. She’s the most loving person I’ve ever met in my life, and it’s just so devastating. ‘
David said his cousin was a gifted artist who moved to Colorado about 12 years ago to run the family’s clothing line.
“She was the backbone of this family,” he said. “She is the backbone of that company.”
