And other Republicans, who claim they are doing “NOTHING” as Congress moves towards a vote early next month to certify the results of the electoral college.

“If a Democrat presidential candidate rigged and stole an election, with evidence of such acts on an unprecedented level, the Democratic senators would consider it an act of war and fight to the death. Mitch & the Republicans are doing NOTHING, just want to let it pass. NO COMBAT! ”Trump tweeted.

The comment marked the latest step in Trump’s attempt to get at least one GOP senator to back a challenge to the electoral college results when Congress meets to certify them on Jan. 6.

So far, no Republicans in the upstairs room have definitively said they will support a challenge pushed by several GOP members in the House, though Alabama Sen.-elect Tommy Tuberville (R) has suggested he could back the challenge.

Senate Republicans hope to avoid a bitter fight with the other side of Pennsylvania Avenue over Electoral College results as Trump ramps up his push to convince Tuberville to join his roommates.

“Ultimately, every senator will have to make his own decision on that, but I think there will be people, yes, who will contact him to find out” what he’s going to do, Senate Majority Whip John ThuneJohn Randolph ThuneGOP Tries To Prevent Messy Trump Fight Over Electoral College Trump’s Final Weeks Are Creating Chaos For Congressional Republicans Jostling To Prevent End-of-Year Legislative Disaster MORE (RS.D.) said of Tuberville’s intentions regarding the Electoral College census.

“I hope eventually that all senators will conclude that these elections must be over and that it is time to move on,” added Thune, the Republican No. 2 Senate, please.

Trump went after Thune earlier in the week as he lashed out at Senate Republicans ahead of the January certification vote, suggesting the top GOP senator would be primary in two years’ time.

Republicans in the Senate are so quick to forget. At this point, they would be 8 seats without my backing them in the last election, ”Trump tweeted. “RINO John Thune, ‘Mitch’s boy’, should let it play. South Dakota doesn’t like weakness. Primarily achieved in 2022, political career over !!! “

McConnell has pressured his colleagues to stay away from the Electoral College struggles, saying this would compel a vote to swat away the challenge the GOP would share with Trump.

Trump and his allies in Congress and the right-wing media have claimed without evidence that widespread fraud and electoral irregularities are costing him a second term. The president has been chasing individual Republicans, such as Thune, for not agreeing to his attempts to reverse the election.

Thune said this week that Trump’s attempts to undermine the election “would go down like a shot dog.”

The president has roped in the Justice Department in its printing campaign, saying the agency should be ashamed of not supporting his claims.

“The Department of Justice and the FBI have failed to address the 2020 election fraud, the largest SCAM in our nation’s history, despite overwhelming evidence. They should be ashamed. History will remember. Never give up. See everyone in DC on Jan. 6, ”he tweeted Saturday.
