Tom Brady, Gronk, is joking about retiring from the Super Bowl commercial

Gronk and Tom Brady will face off – in an extraordinary new Super Bowl 2021 commercial.

The two former New England Patriots teammates, who now play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, appeared in a T-Mobile ad that debuted Friday before Sunday’s big game against the Kansas City bosses.

In last year’s commercial, 43-year-old Brady calls his friend to ask what his next move should be – after two decades in the game and six Super Bowl rings on his fingers.

“I have only one word for you: retirement,” former retiree Rob Gronkowski, 31, told Brady while playing on a sunny golf course. “If you retire now, you will walk on soft sand in a week. Retirement is like earning another! Maybe I’ll even join you. ”

Except that Brady didn’t hear that, not because of “his network,” says a voiceover.

“If you retire now, you’re gentle and weak,” the crushed fodder screams. “Come to Florida and win another.”

“It’s like it’s so easy, Gronk,” Brady says to himself after the call. Switch quickly to this year, and the rest is history. “I’m taking Gronk with me,” Brady swore at a fake news conference at the end of the commercial.

So that’s how they both got to Tampa. Maybe inappropriate networks aren’t such a bad thing after all.

The Brady-Gronk gag is just one of the 2021 Super Bowl commercials released early before Sunday’s big game, which begins at 6:30 p.m. on CBS. Great football colleague Joe Montana also appeared in an ad for Guinness, while another great guy John Travolta and his daughter Ella revived Travolta’s “Grease” moves in a now viral ad for Scotts & Miracle Gro.
