A group of women without a mask were caught in a video attacking and coughing a California Uber driver after he asked one of them to put on a face mask.
The incident occurred after 32-year-old Subhakar Khadka took three women to San Francisco around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, according to KABC-TV.
Khadka remembered asking one of the women to wear a mask, but she refused, so she decided to cancel the trip.
Uber’s policy states that customers and drivers must wear faces while traveling.
“He started mocking me, cursing me, asking me about being a man. The ladies were even talking about my shooting, calling on their cousins to shoot me. They were making fun of my race, “Khadka told reporters.
The woman can be seen in the video recorded by Khadka shouting at him: “F – k masks!” and then coughed repeatedly at him as her friends laughed and shouted curses in the background.
At one point, the woman without a mask grabbed Khadka’s phone from the center of the dashboard and violently ripped off her face mask, the footage shows.
The driver said he arrived at a gas station asking the women to get out of the car.
An Instagram account that appears to belong to one of the women in the car posted several videos of the incident.
“You don’t want to leave us alone in the middle of the hood and the highway and I’m not about to just go to shit, for no reason why he made us make and cut the video,” wrote user @keepinupwforeign.
Another video was subtitled, “Kidnapped.”
San Francisco police said one of the women sprayed a substance believed to be pepper spray into Khadka’s car.
The driver told KABC Uber that he gave him $ 120 to clean up the mess in the car, after repeatedly asking for help.
Khadka added that he is too traumatized to return to work.
“It was unbearable, it was threatening, I was afraid of my life,” he told reporters.
Uber said the woman seen coughing on the driver was banned permanently.
“The behavior seen in the video is awful. The pilot no longer has access to Uber, “the company said in a statement.
The incident is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
