(Reuters) – US President Joe Biden’s administration shut down a Baltimore plant on Saturday that destroyed 15 million doses of COVID-19 Johnson & Johnson vaccine from another AstraZeneca vaccine, the New York Times reported on Saturday.

The administration has appointed Johnson & Johnson to run the plant with production problems, the report said.

The extraordinary US move for health and human services will make the Emergent BioSolutions facility dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine and is intended to avoid future confusion, according to the report, which cites two senior federal health officials. .

Johnson & Johnson said it “takes full responsibility,” confirming the changes, the report added.
