The United States says it is with Colombia in the pain of the government-policy pandemic


The United States on Wednesday joined Colombia’s grief over the departure of Defense Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo and highlighted the tragedy the two countries have suffered over the Covid-19 pandemic.

“On behalf of the State Department, I offer my condolences to the people and government of Colombia on the deaths of Defense Minister and former Secretary of State Carlos Holmes Trujillo García,” wrote US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“With his passing, Colombia lost a great patriot, leader and statesman. The United States lost a close friend and ally. Minister Trujillo’s dedication to a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Colombia was evident to all who worked. with him, the more than four decades of his public service, “he added.

“He will be remembered for his tireless efforts to strengthen Colombia’s partnership with the United States in the service of a stable and democratic hemisphere,” he explained.

“The United States joins Colombia in mourning its death and in recognizing the pain suffered by so many families in our two countries during the COVID-19 pandemic,” he lamented.

Antony Blinken is the new Secretary of State. He was recently nominated by President Joe Biden. The 58-year-old diplomat had the support of 78% of senators. And in this first week in office, this is the first message of great significance in his relationship with Colombia.
