Members of a California school board resigned en masse after being caught mocking parents in a public video meeting about reopening schools that had been closed during the pandemic.

All four members, including president Lisa Brizendine of the Oakley Elementary School District board, stepped down on Friday, according to a Fox News report.

Board members were caught on video complaining about parents wanting teachers to return to their classrooms. Brizendine appeared to mock parents who “want their babysitters back” at the Wednesday meeting that administrators thought was private.

“The comments made were not in line with our vision and are certainly not what we stand for as leaders. I know we have lost faith in the community. I will not make any excuses for what happened or why it happened, ”said school superintendent Greg Hetrick in a statement.

Brisendine later apologized. The other board members – Kim Beede, Erica Ippolito and Richie Masadas – stepped down on Friday.
