PLANO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – A driver was killed in a high-speed accident in front of the north Dallas Parkway, between Park and Parker, in Plano, on Monday morning, January 4th.
Plano police said Heather Alayne Hawkins, 33, of Rowlett, was exiting the highway “at high speed, lost control and hit a tree” around 7:20 p.m.
Witnesses reported her crossing traffic lanes.
The driver was pulled out of the vehicle by Plano Fire-Rescue personnel and rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Speed is a factor in this accident and intoxication is suspected with toxicology reports pending, police said.

Police closed the exit to Parker Road during the investigation and removal of the vehicle.
