A California resident who was vaccinated against COVID-19 died a few hours later – and authorities are trying to find out why.
The sheriff of Placer County announced the death and the investigation on Saturday in a post on Facebook, but offered few details.
The county, which is in the Sacramento area, was “recently informed” of the person’s death, police said.
The person tested positive for coronavirus in December and had been vaccinated a few hours before his January 21 death.
There was no indication that the vaccine was given to the person.
“There are several local, state and federal agencies that are actively investigating this case; all reports of the cause of death are premature, pending the outcome of the investigation. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased “, wrote the sheriff’s office.
An autopsy will be performed on Monday, said the sheriff’s office of the CBS Sacramento affiliate.
