(Reuters) – German supermarket chain Aldi on Tuesday became the latest food company to provide incentives to US employees receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, saying it would pay up to four hours to those who choose to receive vaccinations.

The retailer, which has more than 2,000 stores in 37 US states, said it will cover the costs associated with administering the vaccine and implement on-site vaccination clinics in its warehouses and offices.

Dollar General Corp. last week offered front-line employees a similar incentive after receiving the vaccine, while food delivery company Instacart said it would pay $ 25 for more than half a million workers if it chose to take time off to get vaccinated.

Aldi said he is working with U.S. officials to get priority access for vaccine workers, joining other companies, including Amazon.com Inc. and Uber Technologies Inc., lobbying to move workers closer to the vaccination front line. .

However, conflicting state and local guidelines on how shots will be administered and how workers have made the navigation process of vaccine launching confusing for corporations and industry bodies.

Most corporations around the world have so far been reluctant to try to provide doses for employees, even though some Indian companies are considering buying COVID-19 photos for their employees once the vaccines become commercially available.
