Tatito Hernández hires a former electoral committee advisor from Joe Biden for $ 9,000 a month

Washington DC – The President of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives, Rafael “Tatito” Hernández, today announced the signing of a $ 9,000 monthly contract with Puerto Rican Tatiana Matta, former advisor to President Joe Biden’s campaign, who is his adviser will be in the US capital.

Matta, who ran unsuccessfully to a California convention seat in 2018, currently lives in Massachusetts but will move to Washington DC to fulfill those duties.

“It will be a great asset to our agenda in DC,” said Hernández Montañez, who has been in the US capital since Tuesday.

Although Matta has not worked in Washington DC, Hernández Montañez said she “has access to the political fabric” because she advised the Biden committee and after she ran for Congress.

Matta must work a maximum of 65 hours per month – which equates to paying a minimum of $ 138 an hour – to assist with things like emergency fund disbursement, supplementary security income (SSI), Medicaid, Medicare, food aid, and manufacturing incentives.

Hernández Montañez said Matta should help get the Department of Housing and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to lift administrative restrictions that “don’t allow us to get the money to the citizens.”

Regarding the SSI, the president of the chamber said he will send a letter to the designated Attorney General, Merrick Garland on Sunday, calling for the withdrawal of the certiorari filed by the Donald Trump administration before the United States Supreme Court to prevent decision to reverse. of the First Federal Circuit of Appeals, in the Vaello Madero case, which opens the door for islanders to access this federal program that helps poor and disabled seniors.

Matta will not be linked to the status debate.

As a candidate for Congress, Matta – who was attempting to sack the House Republican minority leader Kevin McCarthy – expressed support for the idea of ​​making Puerto Rico the 51st state in the United States.

“You have to find people who can help us. In the same way that popular republicans like Charlie have hired Black, ”said Hernández Montañez when asked about hiring a consultancy that prefers a state for the island.

Hernández Montañez also emphasized the fact that Matta is Puerto Rican.
