Some post offices will close early due to “possible civil event”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – The United States Postal Service announced Friday that it is taking precautions ahead of potential future civil events.

The USPS said Denver and Colorado Springs post office locations would be reduced on Saturday.

In Colorado Springs, the post office on 201 E. Pikes Peak Ave. it was scheduled to be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The lobby will be open from 6 am to noon.

The USPS also said that many blue collection boxes will be removed. The postal service said all collection boxes would be replaced after the potential threat ended. According to a list sent by the USPS, 22 collection boxes will be removed in Colorado Springs, mostly in the city center.

The postal service said these are temporary measures to protect the post office, employees and the community.
