Rosie Perez revealed why fans never see her at the Oscars, despite the fact that she was previously nominated.

The 56-year-old actress explained that she has not been invited back to the Oscars since her nomination in 1994 for Fearless in an interview with Variety on Thursday.

“Not even to sit in the audience, not to present, nothing – I’m a member too,” said the disappointed star about the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

As Rosie points out, Hollywood wants too much to evolve: “Changes are happening, but it’s too damn slow.”

Variety cited a study conducted in 2018 by the Motion Picture Association of America, which found that Latinos had the highest rate of filming among ethnic groups.

However, they also noted a 2019 study conducted by the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, which found that only 4.5% of all 47,268 characters speaking or named in the highest-grossing films from 2007 to 2018 were Latin , just like only 3% of the lead or main actors.

Rosie was most recently seen on the HBO hit Max The Flight Attendant, alongside Kaley Cuoco, which she said was a much more enjoyable production than usual.

She said she was pleasantly surprised that the manufacturers provided her with makeup that would match her skin tone, eyelash options and pants that would fit her properly.

“I am a complete woman and proud of it. In the past, I should have asked, “Why can’t I get different pants that fit my big f —— a–?” Perez admitted.

Her most recent public appearance came at the Golden Globe Awards in February, where she served as a presenter. Like the Oscars, she has not received recognition at the event since 1994, but that did not stop the organizers from bringing her back.
