Popular actor Frank González died in Havana – Juventud Rebelde

The National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba regretted, this Friday, the death of the famous actor Frank González, who died at the age of 74, considered one of the most prolific performers in the country.

In a message via the social network Twitter, the respectable institution highlighted the trajectory of the “man of a thousand voices”, who gave life to the unforgettable characters successfully taken to cinema, radio and national television.

Frank transcended not only as an exceptional actor in radio, television, theater and film, but also for his gift of vocalizing the most diverse characters, until he became a master of dubbing, creator of voices that will be remembered forever, just to mention Colonel Mambí Elpidio Valdés, the most popular animated character in Cuba. Not only did he have the ability to change his voice, but he also gave life to the characters in a cartoon.

He discovered his love for the performing arts in the military, where he participated in various festivals. In 1967 he entered the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT) and took a course with the great actress and director Martha Jiménez Oropesa, to whom he owes his mastery of voice, diction and the phonatory apparatus, as he confessed in an interview.

His many distinctions include the Cuban Radio Microphone, the distinction for national culture, awarded by the State Council of the Republic of Cuba, the ACTUAR Award for the work of life, in 2016; and the National Television Award in 2019.

Among his films are El otro Francisco (1974, Sergio Giral), Elpidio Valdés forțeaza urmele (1978, Juan Padrón), Matojo no nada, nada (1981, Manuel Lamar), En tres y dos (1985, Rolando Díaz) and Plaff o Too much fear of life (1988, Juan Carlos Tabío).

His body will be cremated at the request of his relatives, to whom we send our deepest condolences.
