The iconic defeat, against boxer James Douglas, marked a before and after in his career
Mike Tyson it was a best time boxer of the world in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Tyson is one of the athletes who made the most titles in the late twentieth century, not only for his successes in the ring, but also for his behavior outside of it.
His fame, invincibility, and popularity put him in a world of excess; and little by little, the American was declining in his career. In 1990, with a record of 37 wins and zero losses, Tyson finally fell on the canvas because of his crazy life.
He was the youngest world weightlifting champion in history, only 20 years old when he won. In the late 1980s and early 1990s he won all three world belts, in addition to being World Boxing Council champion between 1986 and 1990.
31 years ago, on February 11, 1990, James Douglas snatched his WBA, WBC and IBF titles from Mike Tyson, defeating him in round 10 in a fight in Japan.

Mike himself explained in his autobiography: a sex marathon in Japan was the reason why Tyson arrived with low performance and without much preparation.
“On January 8, 1990, I boarded a plane to fly to Tokyo. Hitting and screaming. He did not want to fight; all I was interested in then was spending time and having sex with women. I didn’t consider Douglas a big challenge. I didn’t even bother to watch any of his fights on video. I easily beat everyone who eliminated him, “Tyson said.
Tyson didn’t have to leave the hotel in Tokyo. There he started a sex party with other women, even though he had traveled with his wife to fight.
“Besides having sex with maids, I saw this young Japanese woman I had sex with the last time I was in Japan. Robin (his wife) was shopping and I was going down to the back of the hotel, where this young woman had a room … So this was my preparation for Douglas, ”the American explained.
Mike couldn’t stop, not caring that he was hours away from an important fight: “The day before the fight, I had two maids at the same time. And then two more girls, one by one, the night before the fight, “he confessed.
