(Reuters) – Microsoft said it had largely resolved the technical issue that delayed the delivery of messages in the widely used Teams messaging application on Wednesday.

The problem, which was caused by a possible network problem, affected users in America, the company said.

“We are monitoring the service to ensure complete restoration and we will take all necessary measures if the impact persists,” the software giant added.

Downdetector, an outage tracking site, said there were more than 800 incidents of people reporting problems with teams.

Downdetector only tracks interruptions by gathering status reports from a variety of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. The interruption could have affected a larger number of users.

Collaborative applications such as Teams, Slack and Zoom played a critical role in leading distance work and online courses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The teams had about 115 million users since October last year.
