Lin-Manuel Miranda has confirmed that he will be part of Biden’s inauguration ceremony

Actor / screenwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda and singers Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen are among the stars presented at the virtual celebration that will be broadcast on Wednesday night after Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States.

Biden’s inaugural commission announced Sunday’s participants in “Celebrating America,” a multi-station show, which the commission presents as a combination of celebrities and ordinary citizens.

Miranda, who wrote and starred in “Hamilton” on Broadway, will perform a classic recitation. Musicians John Legend, Demi Lovato and Justin Timberlake, among others, will join Springsteen and Bon Jovi. Actresses Kerry Washington and Eva Longoria will host, along with NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, also scheduled to sing.

The segments will include the tribute of a UPS driver, kindergarten teacher Sandra Lindsey and the first American to receive the COVID-19 vaccine outside of a clinical trial.

The broadcast is in place of traditional opening dances. Biden intends to be sworn in on the balcony of the Chapter, but with a reduced ceremony due to the coronavirus and intense security after the January 6 assault on the complex.
