LeVar Burton launches a host concert on “Jeopardy!” after more than 246,000 fans signed an online petition

“Danger!” announced on Wednesday that the actor “Star Trek: the next generation” will be one of the final hosts that will close season 37 of the test.

Burton spoke out loud about his desire to be the guest of the contest. Earlier this month, he shared a Change.org petition on Twitter, writing “Leaving this here where the powers are listening …”

And it seems that the “powers” – or at least his fans – were listening. The petition has garnered more than 246,000 signatures since Wednesday.

“THANK YOU … everyone for your passionate support! I am happy, excited and eager to host Jeopardy !, and I will do my best to live up to your faith,” Burton posted on Twitter after the show announced the news.

“YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE! Go ahead and take my word for it, this time.”

Anderson Cooper receives advice from Ken Jennings before hosting his
Longtime host Alex Trebek died in November last year after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Since then, “Jeopardy!” saw a wide range of guest hosts as the show looked for a long-term replacement.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper currently serves as the guest host.

Other guests invited for season 37 include: “Good Morning America”, anchors George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts, journalist and “Celebrity Jeopardy!” champion David Faber and athlete Joe Buck.

“Our goal was to present a wide range of guest hosts with different skill sets and environments on our way to finding a permanent host,” said Mike Richards, executive producer of “Jeopardy!”, In a statement.

“Our passionate fans tell us what they like and we listen. All the invited hosts brought individualism, energy and a genuine love for our show to each of their episodes. We look forward to sharing the rest of the season with our spectators.”
