Some people who eat King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls feel that the bread company is misleading them.
A class action lawsuit was filed in New York, claiming that the company behind the rolls is “misleading” to customers, leading them to believe that the rolls are made in Hawaii. The documents submitted claim that the rolls are made in California.
“While Hawaiian scrolls and the company’s name alone don’t make people expect a product made in Hawaii to be made more than a pie a month, Hilo Hawaii’s prominent location gives a misleading impression to consumers.” a representative from PC Sheehan & Associates wrote Fox News by email. “This is especially true since King’s Hawaiian is the leading brand in this food category.”
On the company’s website, they say that “the legacy of baking” begins in the 1950s in Hilo, Hawaii, where the founder opened Robert’s Bakery.
The lawsuit alleges that the applicants would not have bought King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls if they had known that they were not made in Hawaii. In the process, damage is sought along with changing the label and packaging.
Kona Brewing and Hawaiian Host were also sued for similar reasons, according to him Hawaii News Now.
