The 42-year-old admitted on ET Online that she did not watch the episode of season 16 Leave a Light On, broadcast in March last year on ABC: “I didn’t see him”.

Alex leaves his wife Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) in Seattle when he reunites with his ex Izzie (who doesn’t actually appear in the episode) to raise his twins on a horse farm in Kansas.

– Wasn’t she with someone? Heigl asked after being updated about the episode’s story, adding, “Listen, isn’t that a ** hole move?”

It comes after showrunner Krista Vernoff defended her choice for TVLine in April last year: “At the end of the day, there were three options. Kill Alex outside the room; to be Alex alive and in Seattle – and still married to Jo – and we just never see him; or [reunite him] with Izzie. ‘

And, although fans have been favored this season, such as Patrick Dempsey and TR Knight, returning for special appearances, Heigl does not seem interested in returning.

She said of her new show Firefly Lane: “I am very focused on this show and my passion for it. I would never say, but it’s not likely.

Heigl starred in the show’s first six seasons before her priorities shifted to raising her adopted daughter Nancy Leigh in September 2009.

She told Entertainment Weekly in 2010 that she had asked for it to be canceled after returning from parental leave: “This was really the turning point for me.

So before I returned, I talked to him again [creator] Shonda [Rhimes] about the desire to leave. Then I waited at home until I was formally offered to be out of the show. The rumors that I refused to return were completely untrue.

Vernoff told the Los Angeles Times in November last year: “Izzie’s story had a resolution. We were planning to return her for an episode that would properly connect Izzie and Alex.

“And I wrote that episode and it was beautiful. The day before, she had to start training or shoot, I don’t remember, I got a call that Katie wasn’t coming. He just wasn’t coming. He wasn’t going to do it.

There were also rumors of a dispute between Heigl and Rhimes after he withdrew from the 2008 Emmy race because he felt that the show did not offer him any material “to guarantee an Emmy nomination”.

Actress Knocked Up cleared the air in 2016, revealing that she had sat down with Rhimes after her words circulated in the press.

She told Howard Stern, “I came in because I was so embarrassed. So I went in [see] Shonda said, “I’m really sorry. That wasn’t great and I shouldn’t have said that.”

“And I shouldn’t have said anything in public.” But at the time, I didn’t think anyone would notice … I just didn’t quietly submit and then it became a story and I felt compelled to make my statement and [I should have just said], “Shut up, Katie.”
