Joe Judge to hire Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt to lay off Giants staff

It seems that Joe Judge is making an addition to his Giants coaching staff, the expected hiring of Jeremy Pruitt being certainly an interesting evolution.

Pruitt, 46, was fired as head coach in Tennessee on Jan. 18 after a school-led investigation found widespread violations of the football program. The university will not pay Pruitt the $ 12.6 million purchase.

Pruitt’s role with the Giants is yet to be revealed. The position of outside defender coach is open, with the departure of Bret Bielema to Illinois. Pruitt was a defensive coach and defensive coordinator in college. He was 16-19 in three years in Tennessee, including 3-7 last season.

Although Pruitt has no coaching experience in the NFL, he is familiar with the judge, as the two have worked together in Alabama since 2009-11 on Nick Saban’s team.

There is another Giants connection for Pruitt. Their back coach, Kevin Sherrer, was Pruitt’s defensive coordinator in Tennessee before joining the Judge’s team last season.
