Jim Carrey reveals that he will not return to Saturday Night Live to play Joe Biden

Jim Carrey reveals that he is giving up his role as Joe Biden on Saturday Night Live: “I was delighted to be elected president of SNL.”

Saturday Night Live will have to find someone new to play President-elect Joe Biden.

Jim Carrey announced on Twitter on Saturday that he had reached the end of his “term” as former vice president.

“Although my term was supposed to be only 6 weeks, I was delighted to be elected president of SNL … the highest calling of comedy,” posted on Twitter the 58-year-old Sonic star The Hedgehog.

“I would like to go further knowing that Biden was the winner, because I was shocked that it was not so,” he added. “But I’m just one of a long line of proud, SNL Bidens fighters!”

Carrey appeared on Saturday Night Live for six consecutive weeks, often ordering the cold opening, which is usually dedicated to current affairs policy.

Although former SNL cast member Maya Rudolph has been praised for her impression of Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, Carrey has been praised by critics for her version of Biden, in which she imitated some of her mannerisms, but not he managed to put fist lines.

Carrey (and Biden) have been missing from the last two weeks of SNL, leading some to assume that the West Coast actor has finished the show.

Carrey’s last line referred to SNL’s difficulty in finding someone to play Biden consistently.

Woody Harrelson made several appearances as the next president at the beginning of the 2019 presidential campaign.

Harrelson explained to NME in September that he was probably not invited back to the long-running sketch comedy series due to his limited availability.

“I was approached two or three times, but I couldn’t do it, so I don’t know, maybe Lorne continued, which would probably be smart to have people who were going to show up for sure,” he said.

– Because I don’t know, I wouldn’t always be there, but I would of course do it again, of course. It’s so much fun. ‘

Jason Sudeikis, who was a regular SNL player at Biden when he was a cast member, returned to play after Harrelson’s short spell.

His portrayal had less to do with Biden’s real mannerisms than Carrey’s, and he emphasized broad comedy, more in line with the way SNL portrayed presidents in the 1970s.

Chevy Chase portrayed Gerald Ford as a clutz and a butterfingers, while Dan Aykroyd didn’t even bother to shave his mustache when he played Jimmy Carter.

Comedian John Mulaney, who used to write for SNL, also returned to play Biden before Carrey took over.

It is unclear who will take on the role of Biden now that Carrey has left.

SNL has joined high-profile guests to play the president-elect, but it could be difficult to achieve if I can’t find a New York-based celebrity like Alec Baldwin, who played President Donald Trump for most of his term. or.

The show can also use one of the members of the regular cast to take on the role after four years of regular guests.
