Israel has signed an agreement to buy millions of doses of COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer Inc. (PFE.N) by 2022, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday.

The new vaccinations will be adequate to protect people against various variants of the coronavirus, Netanyahu said in a statement.

He said he hopes to sign a similar agreement to purchase Moderna Vaccine Inc. (MRNA.O).

“This means that very soon we will have more than enough vaccines for both adults and children,” he said.

Late Monday, Israel’s Walla news site reported that Israel had also signed an agreement with Moderna, although officials could not be contacted immediately to confirm the report.

Approximately 81% of citizens or residents over the age of 16 – Pfizer / BioNTech eligible age group <22UAy.DE> vaccine in Israel – after receiving both doses, infections and hospitalizations suddenly decreased.
