Intel reviews quarterly revenue piracy reports

(Reuters) – Intel Corp. on Thursday said it was investigating reports that a chart in its quarterly earnings statement was unauthorized prior to publication.

“Once we became aware of these reports, we made the decision to issue our earnings announcement shortly before the originally scheduled launch time,” the US computer chip company said in a statement.

Earlier on Thursday, the Financial Times quoted Intel’s chief financial officer as saying that financially sensitive information had been stolen by a hacker from his corporate website.

Chief Financial Officer George Davis said the leak was the result of an unlawful act that did not involve any unintentional disclosure of the company itself, according to the report. (on.ft.com/2XZ1KOB)
