Hunter Biden, the son of President Biden, said in a new interview that he is “100 percent” certain that he “will be cleared of any wrongdoing” in a Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into his taxes.
Hunter Biden told CBS News correspondent Tracy Smith that he is “cooperating fully.”
“I am absolutely certain, 100 percent certain that I will be cleared of any wrongdoing at the end of the investigation,” said Hunter Biden, adding that “all I can do is cooperate and have confidence in the process.”
Hunter Biden confirmed last year that the U.S. law firm in Delaware was investigating its taxes.
“I am confident that a professional and objective assessment of these matters will demonstrate that I have conducted my business legally and correctly, also with the benefit of professional tax advisers,” he said in a statement in December.

The Associated Press, citing an unknown source familiar with the DOJ’s investigation, reported last year that a subpoena had been issued seeking documents from Hunter Biden pertaining to the Ukrainian gas company Burisma.
It was not clear at the time whether researchers were seeking information about Hunter Biden’s work with the company or assessing its sources of income.
Hunter Biden joined the Burisma administration in 2014, while his father served as vice president under former President Obama and was the government’s appointee for policy in Ukraine. A report by Senate Republicans last year found no evidence that Hunter Biden’s work had a direct impact on Ukrainian policy at the time.
Hunter Biden told CBS News that he did not believe he “made a mistake taking a spot on the board,” but said he “made a mistake by underestimating the way it would be used against me.”
“All I know is that no investigative agency, no serious journalist has ever accused, ever concluded that I did something wrong, or that my father did something wrong,” he said.
Hunter Biden also discussed his history of substance abuse in the extensive interview. He recalled a period after the death of his brother Beau Biden in 2015, when he drank vodka, CBS noted.
Hunter Biden also recalled interacting with his father, who was a vice president at the time.
“So he kind of ditched his Secret Service and figured out a way to get to the house,” Hunter Biden said. And I said, ‘What are you doing here?’ He said, “Honey, what are you doing?” I said, “Daddy, I’m fine.” He said, “You’re not okay.” ”
He also discussed his history of drug addiction, telling CBS that “I spent more time on my hands and knees ransacking carpets and smoking anything even reminiscent of crack cocaine.”
“I’ve probably smoked more Parmesan than anyone else, you’re sure, Tracy! I mean, I once didn’t sleep for 13 days, and smoked crack and drank vodka all that time, ”he continued.
The interview comes days before the Tuesday release of Hunter Biden’s book “Beautiful Things”.
