Gayle King’s daughter Kirby Bumpus makes the connection to a “perfect” wedding at Oprah Winfrey’s Montecito estate
Her daughter Kirby Bumpus tied the knot in December.
But only on Monday did Gayle King announce the news on CBS This Morning and in an interview published in Oprah Winfrey magazine.
And King’s BFF Oprah was the one who hosted the bridal shows that were reduced due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Kirby, 32, married her fiancé Virgil Miller on her million-dollar estate of her godmother Oprah in Montecito, near Santa Barbara, California.
The couple got engaged in February 2019.
“Kirby is really so happy and nothing beats when your kids are happy,” King, 66, told Oprah magazine.

The ceremony was officiated by Kirby’s brother, Will Bumpus, and was attended by Oprah’s partner, Steadman Graham, and a professional photographer who took pictures on the occasion.
King shares Kirby and Will with her ex-husband William Bumpus, whom she divorced in 1993.
“No one knows Kirby as her brother does, so for him to perform the ceremony felt like he was meant to be,” King explained.
“It wasn’t the wedding I planned, but it was absolutely perfect,” she said.

Her children: Kirby and Will are King’s children with her ex-husband William Bumpus, whom she separated in 1993.
The photos of the ceremony were taken by photographer Joe Pugliese, who was at Oprah’s mansion for a last-minute filming and instead woke up playing as a wedding photographer.
“Joe doesn’t do weddings normally … so I was lucky and had a professional photographer who followed all the pandemic protocols. I’m so glad we have those memories because the photos are amazing,” she told the magazine.
She shared some of the photos from the happy day on Instagram.
In the accompanying legend, she added: “Does anyone have any advice on being a good mother-in-law ?? They are all ears and take notes! ‘
