Fortnite brings back a controversial feature with a twist

Fortnite Season 5, just in time for Christmas, has brought back a controversial feature, and at this time it is not clear why or for how long it will return. If you haven’t taken the Battle Royale game on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, Nintendo Switch or mobile devices in the last day or two, Epic Games has added planes back to the game, albeit with a controversial twist which players are not in love with.

The planes themselves are quite controversial. The last time they were in the game, before the launch of chapter two, some players loved them and anticipated their possible return, but many players hated them and hoped that they would be gone forever. That being said, they are back, but with a tweak that made them split the players happy to see them return in the first place.

Over Twitter, prominent Fortnite data analyst and leaker FortTory not only revealed planes in action, but also revealed that they now have fuel tanks, bringing a new dynamic to their use. The last time they were implemented, they didn’t have fuel tanks, so it’s not clear why Epic Games made that change, but again, it’s not clear why the planes returned in the first place. The answer to the first question might be to make sure they are not in the final circle, which has been a big criticism of their previous implementation, however, this is just speculation for now.

As mentioned, the return of the planes has once again Fortnite divided community. Some players are not happy to see them again, while others are, although some of these players are disappointed that they now have a fuel tank.

Fortnite is available for free on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. For more information on the popular and free game, click here.
