The company announced on Sunday that it has reached an agreement with Turnbridge Equities and Denali Properties to acquire Cary Towne Center of 980,000 square meters and 87 acres. The ultimate goal is to turn the mall into the new Epic Games campus by 2024.
“The facilities will include both office buildings and recreational spaces, allowing Epic the flexibility to create a customized campus from scratch to suit its long-term growth,” a company spokesman wrote.
Epic Games has been well established in Cary for over 20 years and is currently hosted along Crossroads Boulevard right next to Dillard Drive. The company intends to operate from that location until the transition is complete.
Turnbridge and Denali purchased the Cary Towne Center mall in January 2019, according to an Epic Games spokesman.
“We are extremely proud that Epic has chosen to call Cary home for their new global headquarters, and we greatly appreciate the company’s recognition of Cary’s existing assets, as well as the area’s unlimited potential for their growing business,” said Mayor Cary Harold. Weinbrecht. “We look forward to continuing to work closely with the Epic team as they conceptualize their new campus, and we are honored to work with them on this exciting new development.”
Epic plans to continue working with Cary, Turnbridge and Denali on the development.
Jason Davis, CEO of Turnbridge Equities, said: “After years of changing the Centre’s development plans, we are excited that the space will be fully exploited and transformed into something the city and community of Cary can be proud of. ”
