A 21-year-old woman who was found dead on Friday morning near the Iowa State University campus has been identified as Minnesota-born Olivia Chutich.
Chutich is the daughter of Minnesota State Supreme Court Justice, Margaret Chutich, and Allina Health CEO, Dr. Penny Wheeler. Chutich and Wheeler confirmed the death of their daughter in a short statement on Friday evening.
“It is with great sadness that we affirm that we affirm that Olivia Chutich, our beloved daughter, died in Ames, Iowa. Olivia was the light of our lives. We ask for privacy as we mourn this unimaginable loss. Thank you.”
Ames Police Department reported that Chutich was found unconscious in a Delta Delta Delta Sorority parking lot at block 300 of Ash Ave. around 9:50 am on Friday.
Chutich, a student at Iowa State University, was pronounced dead on the spot.

Police searched the area and conducted interviews, although the department has not announced a cause of death for the 21-year-old. Police are asking anyone with information about Chutich’s death to call 515-239-5312.
