A Japanese woman was arrested after a cleaning agent found her mother’s body in the freezer of her apartment in Tokyo.
The body had been bent over to fit in the freezer, police said.
Yumi Yoshino, now 48, said she hid the body 10 years after she came home and found her 60-year-old mother dead because “she didn’t want to be mute ”from home, local media reported.
There were no visible injuries on the frozen body, police said.
Officials could not determine the time and cause of the woman’s death.
The body was allegedly discovered after Yoshino was evicted from the apartment due to non-payment of rent. Yoshino was arrested on Friday at a hotel in Chiba, near Tokyo.
