Actor Felix Silla, best known for his role as Cousin Itt in The Addams Family, Dies at 84

Silla died after a battle with pancreatic cancer, his manager Timothy Beal told CNN.

“He was a great friend, an excellent customer and he will be missed,” Beal said.

A fellow actor and Silla’s friend for over 40 years, Gil Gerard confirmed his passing and posted a tribute on Twitter. Silla and Gerard were co-stars in the 1979 action film “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” and frequently participated in group discussions together at conventions such as Dragon Con.

“Felix died just a few hours ago and the only thing I can draw from his death is that he has not suffered,” Gerard said. “I will miss him terribly, especially the time spent on our panels.”

He played the hairy Cousin Itt on “The Addams Family” during the two seasons, beginning in 1965. But his career spanned several decades and included roles in “Star Wars: Episode VI – The Return of the Jedi” in 1983. , where he played an Ewok and a role in the 1987 film “Spaceballs”, a parody of the Star Wars movies.

The actor has worked on stunts at “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”, “ET Alien” and “Poltergeist”.

Silla was expected to enter a hospice on Thursday, according to one tweet earlier from Gerard, who said he spoke briefly with his friend.

Silla is survived by his wife Sue and daughter Bonnie. His son Michael died on March 22, 2020, at the age of 45, according to his publicist Bonnie Vent, who described him as a nice and humble man.

Silla was 3 feet 11 inches tall and his wife was 4 feet 8 inches tall, Vent said.

“Felix used to tell everyone that he married a tall blonde,” Vent said. “He is loved by all who have known him.”
