Alabama man killed in COVID-19 contagion

A father in two from Alabama who contracted the COVID-19 variant from Great Britain lost his battle with the highly contagious virus, says his wife.

Alfonzia Jackson Jr. began to get sick at Christmas and her symptoms worsened when she started struggling to breathe two weeks ago, her wife Ashley Jackson told The Birmingham News.

Jackson was admitted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham on January 22, and his wife later learned that she had tested positive for the British version, which spread rapidly to the United States.

On Tuesday, she posted on Facebook that her beloved husband had passed away.

“Lord, this day has been difficult,” she wrote. “I would not wish that on anyone, while I said goodbye to my amazing husband. I was reminded of the day I said I was doing it and promised to spend the rest of our lives together. ”

Medical experts fear that vaccines will be less effective against various strains of the coronavirus – including those in the UK, South Africa and Brazil.
