The United States has more than 19 million cases of coronavirus

The United States has surpassed 19 million confirmed cases of coronavirus on Sunday since the start of the pandemic, according to information compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

The country passed this mark just six days after reaching 18 million. The number of confirmed cases in the country has doubled in less than two months.

Deaths caused by COVID-19 in the United States have also increased, now totaling over 332,000, which equates to more deaths per 1,000 Americans. As of Saturday, the country had about 331 million inhabitants, according to the Census Bureau.

About 4% of the world’s population lives in the United States, but it has recorded about 24% of all its coronavirus cases and 19% of COVID-19 deaths. However, health experts believe that many cases have not been reported, both in the country and abroad.
