Nearly a hundred migrants from Central and Cuban America have been detained by authorities in Mexico after arriving at the airport in northern Monterrey without documents proving his regular stay in the country, the government reported on Saturday.

Agents at the National Migration Institute (INM) on Friday identified 70 Hondurans, 14 Guatemalans, six Salvadorans and five Cubans who arrived at Monterrey International Airport in Nuevo Leon – a state bordering the United States – on two commercial flights. One was from Villahermosa, Tabasco, while the other was from Cancun, Quintana Roo, two southeastern states.

The majority (72 of the 95) apparently ended up in 27 family groups “of two to five members each”, the Ministry of Interior (Interior), on which INM depends, detailed in a statement.

Eight members of the group are unaccompanied minors – four from Honduras, three from El Salvador and one from Guatemala – and were under the tutelage of the Comprehensive Family Development System, which will serve and accommodate the 27 families, he added. .

The other 15 adults, three women and 12 men, were transferred to an immigration station in Nuevo León to begin the process of returning to their countries of origin.
