Today, the Overwatch League announced changes the way fans can watch their streams.

Last season, the Overwatch League drastically changed its viewing options switching platforms from Twitch to YouTube. The move was unpopular with fans because YouTube didn’t have many features that made Twitch viewers unique and engaging.

On Twitch, you can earn chips for your time by watching live games to spend on Overwatch League skins and in-game sprays. The League Channel also had a premium subscription package that gave players access to the Command Center – a tool that allowed fans to customize their vision of the game.

Today’s changes seem to bring some of the same Twitch benefits to YouTube.

“You will be able to watch live matches and win rewards directly on YouTube channel Overwatch League as well as on overwatchleague.com and the Overwatch League mobile app, ”Overwatch League announced on its website.

In the middle of last season, the Overwatch League somewhat restored the ability to win chips. But to do that, fans had to bypass YouTube, the main platform, and watch the matches directly on overwatchleague.com or in the League’s mobile app. Now that you’ve signed in to your YouTube and Blizzard accounts, you can earn old-fashioned chips.

4K resolution also comes with OWL matches, as do player facecams and the ability to create clips. Videos for YouTube have been announced but are still being tested and are only available for a few selected channels that now include Overwatch League.

“All Overwatch League matches – live and on demand – on our YouTube channel will have clip functionality that allows you to clip and share your favorite moments for up to 60 seconds of video,” the ad said.

The clips were the main way to share the most important moments of the game and were almost completely destroyed when the League jumped on the platforms. Adherence to this functionality will be a great advantage for fans (I know it’s for me.)

The Overwatch League starts on April 16, but you can start winning chips by watching the Experimental Book Tournament starting March 26.
