Today, Sega announced this Yakuza executive director and producer Toshihiro Nagoshi will resign from the corporate board. However, he will remain with Sega.

As reported in Game Biz, Nagoshi will leave the board of directors starting April 1, when the new Japanese financial year will begin. He will step down as Sega’s Chief Creative Officer but will work as a creative director.

There is speculation online in Japan that Nagoshi was expelled after a controversial comment he did it last year, seeming to mock Puyo puyo sports players. The producer said they appeared to be eating bowls of beef with cheese. Deadline chiizu gyuudon gao (チ ー ズ 牛 丼 顔) or “the face of the beef bowl” circulated online. Shortened to chiigyu (チ ー 牛) or “beef with cheese”, this slang term is used to refer to people who live in rural areas, look very young, wear glasses and have little ambition. It is a negative and mocking term to ridicule people who may not be considered “cool”.

Nagoshi he apologized for comment, saying:As the remark was addressed to players who spend all their time playing a Sega title, Puyo puyoand because it has soiled all e-sports, I’m very sorry about that. It was really inexcusable. ”

The famous manufacturer continues to appear in Sega YouTube live streams (pictured above), so Nagoshi may give up for other reasons. We hope he will be able to concentrate his energy more Yakuza games and not corporate politics.
