Yadier Molina makes Major League Baseball sports history

Yadier Molina is getting closer to being immortal in the prestigious Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame.

There are a few years left before that extraordinary moment.

But as time goes on, Puerto Rico’s wide receiver for the San Luis Cardinals continues to make history in the major leagues.

Molina became the first catcher to receive 2,000 games with the same team on Wednesday. In total, six receivers received 2,000 major games, but with new points. These are Iván Rodríguez (2,427), Carlton Fisk (2,226), Bob Boone (2,225), Gary Carter (2,056) and Jason Kendall (2,025).

The 38-year-old from Dora played in the game against the Washington nationals.

Molina is in her 18th major season, all with St. Louis. His first official behind-the-scenes game was on June 3, 2004 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The nickname Marciano signed this year for another season.
