Yadier Molina is again a hero for the cardinals

Miami. Yadier Molina flew a sacrificial balloon against Sandy Alcantara, his former battery partner, and Cardinals St. Louis defeated the Miami Marlins 4-2 on Tuesday night.

The flyhead of the Puerto Rican Molina ended a three-round attack in the sixth half. Dylan Carson managed his second round at home of the season to increase the difference in the ninth half.

Alcántara was loaned by San Luis to Miami in December 2017, as part of a package that also included Dominican Marcell Ozuna. Three months earlier, he had made his major league debut, with Molina caught.

At 25, Alcantara (0-1) equaled the best of his career, prescribing 10 shots in the first five innings. He limited the Cardinals to two hits.

Tommy Edman and Paul Goldschmidt opened the sixth inning by hitting shots inside the frame. A walk to Nolan Arenado loaded the bases without exits.

A passing ball gave a run to St. Louis, and Paul DeJong’s RBI tied the game at 2-2. Molina, who also had two shots, hit the fly that marked the lead.

The win was for Ryan Helsey. Alex Reyes saved.

For the Cardinals, Puerto Rican Molina 3-2 with an RBI.

Stroman shines in the first victory of the Mets

Philadelphia Marcus Stroman looked sharp for six innings, his first start of 2019, and the New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 8-4 on Tuesday night.

Dominic Smith and Pete Alonso each added two homers for the Mets to get their first win of the season.

Didi Gregorius managed to run alone in Philadelphia, which she wanted to start the season with 5-0, last achieved in 1915.

After refusing to play last year due to coronavirus problems, Stroman (1-0) did not look rusty. He allowed a run and three shots, before leaving the game to a bullpen that had ruined a great performance of Jacob deGrom the night before.

Gerrit Cole untouchable against Baltimore

New York. Gerrit Cole broke out 13 times and missed seven innings, the most dominant start since joining the New York Yankees, who crushed the Baltimore Orioles 7-2 on Tuesday night.

Cole (1-0) recorded his first win of the season, allowing four hits, three of them singles, in the kind of performance that showed why the Yankees made him the highest paid pitcher in the major in December 2019, when he – awarded a nine-year contract, $ 324 million.

Jay Bruce supported Cole’s solid performance with his first homer of the season, without a man in base in the second off Dean Kremer (0-1), and Aaron Judge added a homer with three stages in the eighth.
