Xiomara Castro: “It is my responsibility to lead the alliance”

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.- The candidate from Freedom and Refoundation Party (Free of charge), Xiomara Castro de Zelaya, said on Monday that “it corresponds to the leadership of the alliance”.

The above were written in a tweet in which he highlighted his firm position not to give up the presidential candidacy in case of sealing the union with the Liberal Party.

“In intense dialogue with Yani RosenthalBased on my results, I argued that it was my responsibility to lead the alliance. It took time. I will remain firm that I must be the candidate. The technical teams will discuss other issues that we agree on next Monday, “Castro wrote.

A few hours earlier, the former first lady acknowledged that, in the first approach with the rojiblanco party candidate, “there is still no alliance for the president”.

“The issue of the head of the alliance has not yet been reached. At the next meeting, they will talk about who will lead the alliance, “said the politician, who in turn reported that the second meeting was scheduled for Monday 26.

Both candidates made it clear that if an alliance is reached, it will only be at the municipal and presidential level, although they did not provide further details on the matter.

Invitation

The meeting was promoted by Xiomara Castro de Zalaya just minutes after National Electoral Council (CNE) will formalize it as the winner of the primary elections in Freedom and Refoundation Party (Free of charge).

Salvador Nasralla and Luis Zelaya were invited to the meeting, but only the Liberal candidate, Yani Rosenthal, attended, accompanied by several leaders of the red-white-red flag entity.

Former Libre presidential candidates Nelson Ávila and Wilfredo Méndez were not present at the meeting, announcing that they would sign the “alliance of honesty”.
