Xbox Live is officially rebranded Xbox Network

The Xbox Live Gold service retains its title

Microsoft has announced that it will officially change its Xbox Live “Xbox Network” service. The change is not expected to change too much in the big picture and it seems to have been made only for aesthetic, descriptive and marketing reasons.

“The ‘Xbox Network’ refers to the basic Xbox online service, which was updated in the Microsoft Service Agreement,” Microsoft said in a statement to The Verge. “The upgrade from ‘Xbox Live’ to ‘Xbox Network’ is intended to distinguish the core service from Xbox Live Gold subscriptions.”

Microsoft has confirmed that the paid online service, Xbox Live Gold, will keep its name for a long time. Rebranding is not expected in any way for the subscription service or its use. Microsoft probably wants to point this out in the wake of the disaster earlier this year, when an increase in rates for the Xbox Live Gold service angered users and led to a rapid change from the publisher.
