Wyatt Russell says John Walker, the former captain of America, is a man who has little to lose by the end of Friday’s series The hawk and the winter soldier. Spoilers for episode 5, “The Truth”. When he uses the star-stained shield, once used by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) to brutalize Nico (Noah Mills) from Flag Smashers – revenge for his partner Battlestar (Clé Bennett), who fights KIA with Karli, empowered with Super Soldier’s Serum. Morgenthau (Erin Kellyman) – Walker is stripped of his title and authority as Captain America. With the blood-stained shield stolen by Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Walker forges his own shield that he will use to unleash revenge as an American agent.
“I’m just asking to be heard,” says an increasingly frustrated Walker to the board, which removes him as the new Captain America, immediately. “I lived my life after your mandates! I dedicated my life to your mandates! I did only what you asked me to do, what you told me to be and you trained me to do and I did it. And I did well. “
When he is sentenced to a discharge other than honorable and is told that he will not hold any degree in retirement and will not receive benefits, Walker tells the board, “You built me. Senator, I am the captain of America. “

Being an America captain who wasn’t Steve Rogers or Chris Evans was “partly why I liked him,” Russell said of his role in Marvel Studios. “People would hate him. I knew. This is why you do it. This is the point. You get that answer and it’s like, Great, it works. “
