It’s Instagram “Idol”!
Wyatt Pike released his first song on the social media platform less than a week after giving up “American Idol”, a shocking move, given that he was named in the top 12.
Pike, a 20-year-old self-proclaimed “child” from Park City, Utah, released the original song “Friday Nights” on Monday, just hours before the ABC show aired.
As promised, here is a video of my song “Friday Nights,” he wrote. “I had fun filming this for you yesterday, I hope you enjoy! “Friday Nights” is available on all streaming platforms! ”
Representatives for Pike and “American Idol” did not return The Post’s request for comment.
Fans seem to love the acoustic guitar song, calling it “talented” and sharing heart emojis.
The new release of the song comes after host Ryan Seacrest gave the ambiguous news that Pike will no longer compete in the show.
“Before I get to the results, I have to tell you that finalist Wyatt Pike will not be competing,” said Seacrest, 46. “He had to give up – but we wish him all the best, okay?”
An American Idol spokesman confirmed to The Post last week that Pike had left the show for “personal reasons”, but an insider claimed that “Wyatt could not continue”.
However, Pike doubled down on Instagram, ignoring what the representatives said was his reason for leaving the show.
“I had to leave the @AmericanIdol competition for personal reasons, but I’m so grateful that I can play music for the rest of my life,” Pike posted on Instagram on Wednesday. “Colleagues competitors – miss you all, good luck!”
The mysterious early exit came after the young performer’s stop, when Pike stunned the panel with his confident rendition of the 2008 Lion King hit “Use Somebody.”
Lionel Richie, 71, said Pike had “a style on stage that we like to watch” and predicted that he was heading for “something big.” Katy Perry, 36, said she had “a bit of an angle in this competition [because] you are a real singer-writer. ”
After leaving, Pike shared a photo of his hometown of Utah with fans. “Something to feel this: at home,” he wrote. “Thank you for the roller coaster I’m on today.”
