Wyatt Pike breaks silence after giving up “American Idol”

Wyatt Pike finally decides on his shocking exit from “American Idol” – and goes to the party line.

Frustrated fans of the self-proclaimed “20-year-old Utah child” should not expect too much relief from his first official statement.

“I had to leave the @AmericanIdol competition for personal reasons, but I’m so grateful that I can play music for the rest of my life,” Pike posted on Instagram on Wednesday. “Colleagues competitors – miss you all, good luck!”

This vague announcement was pretty much parrots, which show representatives told The Post earlier this week, when Pike gave up just before being announced top 12.

“Wyatt could not continue for personal reasons and we can not comment further,” was the official word on Tuesday.

Representatives for Pike, however, declined to comment, as rumors on social media say it violated COVID-19’s restrictions on flying home, spreading like wildfire.

The mysterious departure came after the young performer’s performance came to a halt: at Sunday’s pre-recorded show, Pike stunned the panel with his confident rendition of the 2008 Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody.”

“Before I get to the results, I have to tell you that finalist Wyatt Pike will not be competing,” 46-year-old host Ryan Seacrest announced without ceremony at Monday’s first live show of the season. “He had to give up – but we wish him all the best, okay?”

After Pike’s last performance, 71-year-old Judge Lionel Richie predicted that the young singer was heading for “something big.” Meanwhile, 36-year-old Katy Perry went so far as to proclaim that Pike was “an authentic singer-songwriter. I think whatever happens – you are. ”

Finally, Luke Bryan – who came out on Monday because of a positive COVID-19 test, with Paula Abdul, the judge of OG “AI”, completing for him – made what now seems a somewhat prescient statement.

“I remember one of the coolest things that ever happened to me was the day I realized I could make music forever, under any circumstances,” said Bryan, 44. for Pike. “I’m telling you, Wyatt, you’ll be able to make music for the rest of your life.”

Pike seems to have taken Bryan’s words to heart.

And he offered a teaser of hope for his passionate fans in his latest instant post: “Thank you all for your support … stay tuned soon for more musical stuff!”
