Could the Stealth Assassins return?
When the PlayStation stealth action boom began, one of the quietest but still tightest franchises on the market was Acquire’s Tenchu: Stealth Assassins series. These titles saw players in the role of shadow ninjas operating throughout ancient Japan, taking notes with a range of close abilities, ranged weapons and even a dose of ancient shinobi magic.
Despite a series of versions and a passionate fan base, Tenchu The series has long returned to the shadows, with those from 2009 poorly received Tenchu: Shadow Assassins being the latest version of the franchise. However, in a new interview, Acquisition President Takuma Endo suggested that the bloody adventures of Rikimaru and his crew are not allowed to rot and that there is a clear possibility that Tenchu it could make a long-awaited return.
Speaking to Famitsu, Endo mentioned that Acquire has refreshed the trademark with the subtitle “Stealth Assassins” and while this move should be viewed pure As a technical legal point of view, the studio is very open to relighting Tenchuis released on a modern platform like PlayStation 5. Given the recent success of titles like The ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro: The shadows die twice, (which ironically was originally designed as a Tenchu continued), now would be as good a time as any to return to the franchise, allowing fans to once again rule the rooftops of feudal Japan, killing without remorse and disappearing without a trace.
For now, a new one Tenchu The title remains just a pipe dream, but it’s comforting to know that Acquire hasn’t forgotten about one of the ancestors of the stealth assassination genre.
