Disney and Warnes Bros. Pictures have the most special gifts this Christmas: the streaming premieres of “Soul” and “Wonder Woman 1984”.
Both films, originally scheduled to be released in theaters this summer, will be released tomorrow on digital platforms to bring joy to families in one of the most important festivities.
“I created the film for a big screen, but I think it will still reach people,” says “Soul” director Pete Docter, winner of two Oscars for “Up” (2009) and “Inside Out.”
For her part, the director of “Wonder Woman 1984”, Patty Jenkins, confesses to The Associated Press that she is delighted that the audience will finally see the film. He also comments that he hopes to bring joy at the end of a challenging and devastating year.
“Honestly, it makes me cry that I made a movie that you would see at Christmas (…) I think it’s very special,” he says.
“Wonder Woman 1984”, which is a sequel to DC Comics’ “Wonder Woman” (2017), will show on HBO Max the warrior played by Gal Gadot in the Regan era, wide pants and Duran Duran.
The film has two villains: the insecure scientist Barbara Minerva, who becomes the rival Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig, and the ambitious businessman Maxwell Lord, played by Chilean actor Pedro Pascal. Both tested Diana, who also changed over time.
“I found a very different Diana from the big-eyed Diana I first met,” says Gal Gadot. – She’s very lonely.
However, his character receives a flash of happiness when Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) reappears in his life almost 70 years after his death.
A film with a soul of its own
“Soul”, which will arrive directly at Disney +, revolves around Joe, a not very successful jazz player, exhausted from teaching music lessons to unmotivated students who, after an unfortunate accident, fall into the Great Origin, a place where each Soul acquires its unique traits to form a personality before moving to Earth.
There, Joe’s soul will try to “rise” to return to New York, although along the way he will meet other extravagant, fearful, competitive souls and even a cynical antagonist who despises human and earthly life.
This new film from Pixar studios will delve into the reason for our personality in a very similar way to the one that “Inside Out” (2015) explored our emotions.
