Woman falls victim to US visa processing with false documents

The detainee will now appear in court for the crime of using and possessing a false document

Patricia Elizabeth Fonseca de Guardado has been detained for the past several hours, trying to obtain her US visa by using false documents.

The prosecution said the detainee had submitted a letter at the time of the immigration process supposedly issued by the El Salvador consulate in Virginia, but US diplomatic headquarters discovered the fraud and alerted authorities.

The detainee will now be tried for the crime of using and possessing a false document, which carries a sentence of three to six years in prison.

Fonseca de Guardado will be taken to court in the coming days to continue proceedings against him for the charge attributed to him.

The US Embassy has repeatedly urged applicants to use their own office services.
