A gang of thieves who escaped from a theft of 320,000 pounds of wine ended up throwing some of the expensive bottles to the police during a car chase in France.

The thieves started throwing expensive bottles of wine at the French gendarmes, while walking on the highway on Tuesday around 5.15, Guardian reports.

They targeted the luxury Relais Château Domaine de Rymska, 29 km from Beaune, Burgundy.

The doors of the hotel cellar had been smashed by thieves, who then escaped with hundreds of bottles of wine.

The hotel owner was awakened after he started firing the fire alarm before getting in the car and running the van of the van.

An investigation has begun and police say they are looking for at least three men.

Investigators are also working to determine if this incident is related to a second burglary at the hotel that took place just 24 hours earlier.

During the previous break, a fine wine worth £ 180,000 was stolen from the same broken cellar in the latest incident.
