One of the biggest games coming to the Nintendo Switch next month is Apex Legends by EA and Respawn Entertainment.
This team-based battle royale shooter doesn’t cut corners – bringing the “complete” experience to Nintendo’s hybrid system. According to Respawn, port specialist Panic Button (Missile League, DOOM Eternal) worked his magic on it, making some “smart” optimizations.
So, if it is the “complete” experience, how big will this version of the game be? The official Switch eShop website reveals that you will need to free up space – the game is listed as necessary “15.2 GB“free space. At the same time, the description below mentions that the game needs” at least “a 30 GB download.
“The game requires a download of at least 30 GB via a wireless internet connection. You may be asked to create or link a Nintendo account. a microSD card is required (sold separately). Storage requirements are subject to change, go to www.help.ea.com/apex-legends for details. “
Nintendo’s US website also states that the file size is 30 GB, but the UK page says it is 15.2 GB. Confused, right?
So … it’s one or the other. Anyway, it’s a pretty big download for the Switch. If you need more space. Respawn teamed up with Western Digital and created an Apex Legends Switch-themed MicroSD card for $ 67.99. It has a size of 128 GB and is no different from your standard microSD, apart from the logo.
When the game lands on the Nintendo Switch, it will support the game on multiple platforms and start things off with season 8. As Switch players join this season a little later, there will be 30 free levels from season 8 Battle Pass to claim and in plus, double XP in the first few weeks.
