Why Trump’s ‘dump’ tweet is misleading

While the votes were drawn on Tuesday night in the Senate’s two tight election contests, President Donald Trump predicted that election officials in the state would release a large installment of results that would overwhelm Republican candidates. And he suggested it would be an act of voter fraud.

It looks like they are setting up a big ‘voter dump’ against the Republican candidates. Waiting to see how many votes they need? the president tweeted just before 10:30 p.m. ET.

In reality, however, such lead swings and the release of voting results during an election are commonplace and commonplace.

HOW ARE THEY JUST?

They reflect the usual ebb and flow of a process that involves displaying and releasing massive amounts of results, with leads often switching hands as the counting continues.

For example, Floyd County, Georgia, a Republican stronghold where Trump previously rallied, released all of his results in one big round of voting around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, benefiting early returns for GOP candidates Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue.

The fluctuations of the candidate lead can be especially pronounced when votes are registered in counties with a high population, which often favor Democratic candidates.

WHY HAS THE CONFIRMATION OF THE PRESIDENT BECOME PUBLIC

Trump’s tweet comes back to a similar baseless claim he made about his own loss to President-elect Joe Biden in November. Trump had jumped to an early election day on multiple battlefields, but as the post-in ballots counted, Biden eventually surpassed him.

HOW HAS HE BEEN INVOLVED IN GEORGIA SINCE?

Trump has repeatedly – and falsely – claimed that his loss to Biden was the product of widespread voter fraud. And he has reserved special anger for Georgia, where the two games were held.

During a phone conversation with the Republican Secretary of State of Georgia on Saturday – which was recorded and later leaked to the media – Trump repeatedly argued that the secretary, Brad Raffensperger, could change the certified results so that he would win. He also urged him to “find 11,780 votes” that would overshadow Biden’s profit margin.

“We have at least 2 or 3 – somewhere between 250 and 300,000 ballots were mysteriously thrown into the reels. Much of it had to do with Fulton County, which has not been checked, ”he said during the telephone conversation with Raffensperger on Saturday.

Raffensperger has repeatedly denied Trump’s request, and his office has carried out several agreements and recounts. They all confirmed Biden’s victory.
