Who is Phoenix? The Masked Singer season 5, episode 2 recap

The masked singer judges are not known for their guess eagle ears. Sure, Ken Jeong intentionally guesses celebrities who will never compete in this Fox reality singing competition, even if they would be allowed to keep the mask after they were eliminated, but Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke are not much better … however, somehow they continue to be asked back season after season. It’s almost as if the producers want to guess that Obama and Cher would make the show.

But this week – the second episode of season five– not only one, but two judges successfully named the singer under the guise of the eliminated competitor …

[Spoiler ahead.]

During the initial guessing round after Phoenix’s terrifying rendition of Kesha’s “TiK ToK,” the entire panel picked up clues that the singer was a member of the LGBTQ + community. At the time, judges secretly wrote down their “alleged first impressions” before publicly discussing other options. Among the assumptions discussed were RuPaul, Jane Lynch and Caitlyn Jenner.

Later in the episode, when viewers came out of Phoenix and held Black Swan (maybe Demi Lovato or JoJ pop sensation)o), Piglet (certainly Nick Lachey), Grandpa Monster (pooooossibly John Travolta but probably someone younger) and Chameleon (I honestly have no idea). Even before Phoenix was unmasked, guest host Niecy Nash –speaking for Nick Cannon positive at COVID—He revealed the judges’ written assumptions:

Jenny McCarthy: Caitlyn Jenner
Nicole Scherzinger: Perez Hilton
Robin Thicke: Laverne Cox
Ken Jeong: Caitlyn Jenner

Jeong eventually changed his mind at RuPaul, and Scherzinger decided it was actually Jonathan Van Ness. Well, Jeong should have stuck to his weapons. “You know, I like challenges,” Caitlyn Jenner told Nash after pulling out her huge Pheonix head. “I drove cars. Flying … You can only work on the game of golf for so long. ”

Encouraging Jenner, McCarthy wanted to know what the Olympics thought many of her children would say when they found out she was at the show. “They always knew the father was a little crazy, they would try anything,” Jenner said. “Life is short. You have to enjoy it. As for anyone complaining, Jenner was sent home first: “I’ll be on the golf course tomorrow. I don’t feel sorry for myself. “

After watching that performance from “Tik ToK”, the only people who feel sorry for themselves are the spectators.
